A Hopeless Quest

Michael Peach

Though many times I’ve wished to write
A novel starring Jesus Christ,
The question grave is how I might
Let Truth remain unsacrificed.

This is indeed a hopeless quest,
Since most of his biography
Poetic licence is at best
And lends but little help to me.

I grant there is here irony,
As fiction acts through metaphor;
Yet hate I do the sophistry
Of artists who true facts obscure.
