“Children of God”

Michael Peach

From a cruel and greedy age these lines reach out
To a generation wiser than our own.
If you exist, it means you have achieved
What most of us at best can merely glimpse:
A world in which each person understands
That, since all deeds begin inside the mind,
The only thoughts he should convert to flesh
Are those true conscience deems the "word of God".
