Some thirteen years ago a hell-bent horde
Of bearded Yankee Christian Zionists,
On metal steeds up-revved for their warlike Lord,
Entered Jerusalem as lobbyists.
Today apocalyptic Protestants,
Like Jewish Messianists in Israel,
Are among U.S.’ highest commandants
And, via Trump, could lead the West to hell.
The only way to cancel “Armageddon”,
These fundamentalists regard as fate
And thereby Yeshu’s loving message deaden,
Would be to found Palistrael: a state.
The lethal oxymoron “Holy War”
Could then at last be seen as metaphor.
