The Crux of Art

Michael Peach

The crux of art is metaphor,
While art itself bests nature’s mesh:
For, contrary to science raw,
It shapes the spirit not the flesh.

Is true Prophetic poetry:
Its vehicle is the human heart,
The tenor God we cannot see.
